They Call Me A Fantabulous Diacro-er

How many people actually know what a diacro is? I sure didn’t until last week!

I was walking back into the plant production area and spotted Stan, one of our blacksmiths, hard at work using this round machine. Obviously, he was bending round iron stock into 90 degree angles to be used in production. Being a pro for so many years, he made it look easy. I joked that I bet I could do that! Without saying a word, Stan quickly put the machinery into position and placed a round stock piece of iron in the center.

“All right. Have at it!” He said, stepping away.

Not wanting to disappoint, I stepped to bat. Okay, okay… I wanted to AGAIN prove that I could do “it”, plus have a good laugh. : )

It wasn’t too hard as the piece I was bending was small. The extension handle gave me leverage as I worked.

“Lil’ farther…. C’mon… little more- there ya go!” Stan encouraged.

I looked at my work and decided then and there that I was a right fine blacksmith!

Later on that day, I boasted to the floor manager that STAN had said I was a good blacksmith!

Stan happened to be walking by at that moment. Upon hearing my declaration, he held his hands out wide, saying;

“By golly, she bent a big ole hunk of metal. I mean BIG!”

Sean laughed, not believing any of it.

“Shoot, I don’t know, but I’d say she is one heck of a diacro-er!” Stan bragged.

Oh my WORD, how I laughed at that!! Really now. I could live with that title.

As he clocked out later that day, Stan was sure let me know that I was not only a heck of a diacro-er, but I was surely a fantabulous diacro-er.

He made my day.

Who would have known that a big old piece of odd-looking machinery could turn into one of the sweetest memories of my week? Gotta love co-workers like that. : )
